Traditional tooth replacement treatments for several or all teeth typically involve the use of a full or partial dentures. Partial or full dentures are designed to help restore tooth functionality a give you a brand new beautiful smile.
Partial dentures are used when there are still some remaining healthy teeth in the mouth. These dentures fill in the open spaces where teeth are missing, and are secured by the healthy teeth. Not only do partial dentures replace teeth, they prevent other teeth from shifting out of place due to tooth loss around them.
Complete dentures replace all of the teeth at one time. There are two types of complete dentures available: conventional and immediate. Conventional dentures are placed after the mouth has healed from any necessary extractions and immediate dentures are designed ahead of time and placed as soon as any teeth are extracted. Immediate dentures do require some adjustments after full healing has taken place.
If you’re wearing dentures for the first time, it may take some getting used to.
A well-designed denture will stay in place without the use of adhesives or pastes. If you’ve had problems with an ill-fitting denture in the past, it may be time for an adjustment or a new set of dentures.
